Hey man,

Calm down yourself. don't you see you're kinda flippin out yourself?

This person is only giving his opinion, and that's something which is allowed. It depends per person wether you agree with that or not, and wether you think it is usable.

So. Thing about it.

UBUNTU ALL THE WAY... KDE MIGHT HAVE ITS ADVANTAGES BUT UBUNTU AND GNOME ARE JUST SIMPLE TO USE AND STRAIGHT TO THE POINT... IF LOOKS IS WHAT U CARE ABOUT... GET GNOME THEMES ONLINE... UBUNTU WILL IN THE LONG RUN SHOW WHY ITS BEEN THE DISTRIO OF CHOICE AMONG THE MAYORITY OF US FOR SO LONG... PCLOS WILL HAVE TO STAY HAPPY BEING NUMBER 2.

Yes I do love PCLinuxOS.

Why? KDE, Beryl, Slick theme, easy to use

I hate RPMs. I will admit, the only reason why I like PCLOS is because it is nice and slick working OUT OF the Box

trust me I got ubuntu doing all the a bove, and RPMs suck, deb rox

Looking at both sides, I think better wording would satisfy both groups. Something that communicates that Ubuntu has Gnome installed by default, but can be replaced with full KDE support. Gnome is a very small piece of what Ubuntu is, so saying that Ubuntu is based on it is misleading. That all it takes to write a new flavor is a list of preferred packages and some non-ubuntu-specific configuration demonstrates that (hence Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, (\w+ubuntu)). However, your argument continues to have weight because while it is a small piece, it is (ostensibly) what the common user will be interacting with. Although, still, I feel that it is nevertheless important to note that with a quick installation of the Kubuntu package, you have KDE installed configured with an entire package suite of programs beginning with the letter K to replace the ones installed by default. I've used both KDE and Gnome, and I will admit that when running on a suitably powerful machine, KDE, when not crashing, takes the cake in my book. That situation, for me, has not come up too frequently. As for Gnome... I don't bother anymore. Generally I do a server install of Ubuntu, chose no server packages, and install what I need when I need it. I've blabbed on long enough.

Why PCLOS... why Ubuntu... we shall pass this throught lots of days...
>> My opinions

:: Ubuntu:
 Ubuntu is a nice really nice distro that makes changes each day... but it is not a rolling release... each new realease will follow a dvd.. also the codecs and stuff is a matter or taste...

 Deb and RPM are two great packages... its a matter of taste too

:: PCLOS:
 I personally prefer this one... but for noobies this is just great if with the basis... if you want more you should learn more about linux... Different from ubuntu which has better repositories... but ubuntu has the fames "don't mix with me or I'm going to crash" way... PCLOS doesn't...

 PCLOS has one kind of problem... it has a year release cycle... ubuntu has a 6 months one... but this is not a problem... PCLOS is way better tested and way faster...

>>> The matter of usage...
PCLOS has KDE: yes,
Ubuntu has GNOME: yes...
KDE is usually slower then GNOME: yes...

But even though PCLOS is way faster then Ubuntu, also try MiniMe edition its even faster because it is stripped down...

Also... ubuntu's community is bigger then PCLOS, but go on an IRC of PCLOS and one of Ubuntu's... see the issues that ubuntu's talk and that PCLOS talk... also ubuntu is now a big community because once it was a PCLOS... one distro doesn't get over with another... ubuntu is a community for developing a commercial version for canonical as fedora is for Red Hat Enterprise Linux

>>> ::: Just my opinions...

i've been a wiser guy since then. for friends i just recommend pclos.

so i find just no need for the KDE vs Gnome, rpm vs deb, stuff...

LOL. Hey Zaffe,

Get a life. Relax, read a GOOD linux book, stop cursin' and a swearin'. Get over it. Linux exists in a parallel OS universe. Many flavours of distro all vying for space on your HDD. Find one that does the job by playing nice when you ask your questions. Also, it would help your cause to learn to string a sentence together - you know - in plain english.

Geez - calm down it's only an OPERATING SYSTEM for god/allah/jehova/krishna sake. Why don't you push your obvious passion for OS'es to a greater cause?

Well, i think ubuntu and all it's kin really suck. I have an HP Proliant ML 110 it's a P4 3.2 Ghz with HT and 512 Mb but Ubuntu doesn't even recognize my 60 Gb SCSI HDD, Ubuntu server does the job but I have to write the some f****in password, the hell I know. Tried in several IBM Thinkpad P4 Desktop with the same but never get things right. Many error.
Yes PCLOS cannot recognize my SCSI HDD and cannot played the 3d desktop, at least it far better than ubuntu. I own a Celeron 667 with 320 Mb GeForce MX4 64 and 20 Gb HDD PCLOS works better than Ubuntu. Pentium 3 384 Mb 10 Mb HDD huh? Well what u need iz minimum 2.4 Core2Duo with 4 Gb RAM 500 Gb HDD and GeForce9 series. Now u talking! Ubuntu and it's kin says they will replace Windows in your computing world, yeah replace it with the same f***in problems. The hell with ubuntu the hell with the community, hope you fell great as a linux saint, angel, elders or other f***in names. For me I choose Mandriva, Turbolinux, Dreamlinux, and PCLOS. Someday you guys will fall from the high castle and realize that we are the same. Your arrogance will bring Ubuntu to doom. And for Windows users, don't let the virus make a community in your PC. ;-p
